SilviBio co-founder, Dr Mariela Aguilera, participated in the Unreasonable Impact
Initiative, a programme designed to support entrepreneurs focused on solving pressing social and environmental challenges within their local communities.
After a rigorous selection process, Mariela was selected to join 13 other bold entrepreneurs working in industries such as healthcare, education, renewable energy and food security.
The presentation showcasing SilviBio's seed and soil technology was given at the Unreasonable Impact Small Business Initiative Virtual Showcase, which took place on September 7, 2021.
The event will ran online and showed the achievements of the 14 businesses in the cohort committed to creating jobs, while solving critical challenges, in their respective regional community.
About Unreasonable Impact Small Business Initiative
Unreasonable Impact Small Business Initiative is designed to support entrepreneurs focused on solving pressing social and environmental challenges within their local communities. They are working with small businesses dedicated to delivering innovative solutions across healthcare, education, renewable energy, sustainable transport and the future of food — who are creating new jobs as they grow.
This pilot programme has been launched as an extension of our broader Unreasonable Impact partnership, which was co-created by Barclays and the Unreasonable Group in 2016. While Unreasonable Impact is focused on scaling up growth-stage companies across the globe, the COVID-19 pandemic has reinforced the importance of also driving local impact and job creation within regional small business communities. Through the 2021 pilot programme, they support a group of small businesses impacting the North of England, North Wales and Scotland who are solving social and environmental challenges in the region.
